Okay, hi mum! Just thought I'd say hi to my readers personally ;)
A few months ago i delete my facebook account and was determined to have it permanently deleted by the end of the 14 day 'erasing period', right? it really take 14 days to delete a few photos and wall posts.. I lasted 1 week which was half the time, but my facebook addiction was just too strong, yes i admit it I'm a facebook addict.
This time though is going to be different... i have one week until i go on holiday for two weeks, therefore i can beat facebook's sneaky ways to subconsciously lure you back into the world of 'airing your dirty knickers'.
After about 100 pop ups saying 'Are you sure you want to delete your account' and photo's of people i barely know saying 'Abi is going to miss you, are you sure you want to delete your account?', Im sorry facebook, did you really think i would spend over an hour of my time reading the small print trying to find the the 'DELETE' button. Facebook fools you into thinkimg that you have deleted your account by clicking the 'deactivate' button, and apparently you can still be tagged in photos and invited to events, which is ridiculous!
The reason why i got back my facebook after a week, was to keep in contact with my friends who don't live in my town, yes it is good for that, but really does it have to be so public? I really hate the idea that theres a whole file on me kept on facebooks server with photo's and even photos you haven't uploaded. If you are tagged in a photo it is still traced back to you, and you have no say in the matter, you could try and get your friend to delete it, but they probably wont, and its saved somewhere... nothing is ever 'permanently' deleted!
See this is one of the things I find really scary about the Internet, nothing is private, no secrets can really be kept, if theres a photo or a wall post involved.
So enough rambling from me, but more tomorrow, because now facebooks gone, this is my life now... ;)
ahhhhh you deleted your facebook again! well done mads :L xx
ReplyDeleteI miss you! I'm going to start blogging more often, you should too and it would be a nice way of contacting each other without facebook :) xxx
